Are Republicans playing the terrorist card out of desperation?

  • At first I was offended by their ignorance, now I'm just humored. I think this type of racism has sealed their fate. Your thoughts?


  • nope - the GOP is pointing out FACTS about an associate of Barry. This has nothing to do with race!

    I am offended by Barry supporters that try to divert attention by saying that Barry was only 8 years old when Ayres was a "Weathermen" - SO WHAT! They were associates when Barry was an adult and knew about Ayres.

    I am also offended what Barry supporters are blasting a pregnant 17 year old!

  • Your assessment is 100% correct. The Republicans ARE desperate. They're trailing in the polls and falling farther behind every day we get closer to Nov. 4th. They can't win on the issues so they are relying on Nixon's classic "Republican Southern Strategy": Use race-bating to make the people afraid and angry. It's an UGLY tactic which has worked for them in the past.......but not any more. The nasty hate speeches will be their party's downfall this time around.

  • It is a sad process - but hey - don't lump all Republicans into this farce.

    I'm looking at the far right go "looney-toons" over this association business, meanwhile the "George Will" types are bashing McCain for that very act.

    The moderate Republicans (like myself) are completely lost. I hate that Obama was associated with Ayers, but I also know that Ayers was nominated "Man of the Year" in Chicago - at the time that Obama had met him.

    Which is freaking odd.

    In addition to that - Ayers and Obama were chosen by Annenberg independently to be a part of this board, which was bi-partisan in its general makeup - but mostly Republican.


    So - with this knowledge - it is a shame that this improperly presented information has formed around a campaign. Now the base is fractured, and those who have their predilections for someone who is "not like them" will ride this out as if it were gospel from God's lips.

    It is sad.

    Don't hate all Republicans. Just hate the game.

    Obama has in fact befriended Terrorists, and that is a known entity.

    Obama has also been the one to tell everyone that people will not vote for him because of his race.

    Obama has been listening to his preacher for 20 years, so he is entitled to believe what Rev. Wright preached about hating White people, and God damning America.

    The truth is that Obama will be judged by the content of his character, not the color of his skin.

  • Well they certainly can't run on the issues, can they? No reasonable person pulling less than 7 figures could support the Republican policies.

    That pretty much leaves them with character assassination and fearmongering, which has worked for them in the past (though I suspect that more and more Americans are wising up to them).


  • This is simply veiled racism. The woman that called him an Arab at the rally really wanted to say the n word. She obviously doesn't understand that being Arab isn't anything other than being born in Arabia. She used the word as if she was offended that anyone can be Arab and that Arabs are somehow horrible people.

    It is perfectly clear to me now that these far right extremists are nothing but cold blooded racists, and this makes them the REAL terrorists in this country.


  • I think that you have bought into the media story line. It is not that Ayers is a terrorist, because he is and so admits to it. It is the fact that Obama has lied about his relationship with the man not at 8 when Ayers was doing his bombing but at 30, 35, and 40, and 45. Now, we all know what Ayers, is, it would behoove all us to be concerned with why it is that Obama seems to have buds that are not just liberal but to the extreme of liberals...radicals.

  • Because they are going to lose. I'm really enjoying it because they look like idiots. People are worried about their money, livelihood, and well-being financially. Side by side, Obama has the better economic plan for America. They are too busy calling him a terrorist when they need to be worried about that stock market and people's 401K and life savings.


  • I think it would be embarrassing to Senator McCain....given one of his most respected donors and recent endorsements doesn't see Mr. Ayers as an issue. His continuing on with this seems as if he wants to connect himself and his endorsements to this as well. I find the whole thing truly baffling....

    The Honorable Leonore Anneberg, of the Annenberg Foundation, former Chief of Protocol for the United States of America, a charter member of the Board of Overseers for the Annenberg Institute for School Reform (said foundation that both Senator Obama and Mr. Ayers sat on the board of)....has recently endorsed Senator McCain.

    Mrs. Annenberg has credentials out the gazoo (see link below)....and is highly respected, not only here but around the world.....

    Does it make any logical sense that this woman, all of her foundations, works she and her late husband have done...would have allowed or thought to hire anyone questionable or anyone that was not deemed fit to be on any of their boards, or running any of their foundations programs....Specifically Mr. Ayers....
    Mr. Ayers was granted the funds for the Foundation he began well before Senator Obama ever sat on the board with him. Does it seem at all logical, given who the Annenberg's are, that they would have done that if they thought Mr. Ayers was some horrible person...??...Obviously not.
    For whatever Mr. Ayers did back in his early youth, he was never convicted and clearly Mrs. Annenberg and her late husband had no problems with him.

    If they had, then all of what is being said in regards to Mr. Ayers and Senator Obama can logically be said of this outstanding woman and Senator McCain as well by accepting her endorsement....
    If this man were as dangerous as the McCain campaign wants to make him out to be....I sincerely doubt that the late Mr. Annenberg or Mrs. Annenberg would have ever hired him, allowed him to start one of their programs and sit on one of their boards or have ever associated with him themselves....

    The third link down, is written by one of Mr. Ayers professional associates for over twenty some odd years. It's quite impressive, and again, if Mr.Ayer's was considered to be such a "terrorist" I doubt highly that any of the institutions or people named in this article would have "palled around" with him.

    This whole "issue" regarding Mr. Ayers is seriously a Non issue...and Senator McCain should be ashamed to continue on with is, as he's insulting one of his most respectful donors and endorsements in the process.

  • Any other candidate would have been crucified if they had any of the questionable relationships Obama has had. I am tired of people saying "well he was only 8"...well I was only 8 when Charles Manson's followers murdered innocent people. Ayers is not better than Manson. He masterminded bombings with intent to murder. How can that type of association be acceptable. The only difference between Ayers and Manson is that Ayers got off on a technicality.


  • Honestly, I think that the people who say that Obama is a Muslim, an Arab, a terrorist and was born outside of the US truly believe what they're saying so I don't think it's being played out of desperation. I don't believe for a second that either McCain or Palin believe that he is any of the above but look at who is running McCain's campaign - the same people who helped Bush swiftboat McCain out of the 2000 election. Unfortunately, this election was bound to stir more emotions in people than past elections and fanning the flames even a little bit have proven much more detrimental than they did in the past and it's now beyond their control.
